The problem in this situation
The pattern is familiar: set up a new app properly, keep it current for three weeks, watch it drift, then stop trusting it and go looking for another one. The failure is not motivation. It is that maintenance is executive-function work, and that is the constrained resource.
What makes this different
Task initiation
Barkley's model places task initiation and working memory among the most affected domains. A ranked list with one named first action removes the selection step that blocks starting.
Working memory
Comparing fourteen items against each other requires holding them in mind simultaneously. Risko and Gilbert's review of cognitive offloading describes exactly this — moving the load onto an external tool.
Abandonment
Any system requiring upkeep will lapse on a bad week. Lumin is designed so a two-week gap costs nothing, because there is nothing to have fallen behind on.
A workflow that fits
Dump when your head is full — no schedule, no streak. Work the top item only and keep the rest out of sight. Re-dump whenever the order stops matching reality. Missing days is expected and costs nothing.
When Lumin is not the answer
No team features, no calendar auto-scheduling, no time tracking. It answers 'what first', not 'when exactly'. If that is your bottleneck, a scheduling or team tool will serve you better than this one.

Frequently asked questions
Will this fix my task paralysis?
It addresses one part — the deciding. If the freeze comes from too many undifferentiated options, an external ranking removes that. It does not address initiation difficulty, time blindness or the other contributors, and it is not a treatment.
Why do I abandon every app?
Almost always maintenance. When upkeep lapses the system stops reflecting reality, and an untrusted system gets abandoned. Choosing a tool with nothing to maintain addresses the real failure point.
