What Lumin actually does
Lumin takes one input: an unstructured brain dump. You write or dictate everything you're carrying — deadlines, errands, worries, half-formed ideas — in whatever order it arrives. You do not tag it, categorise it or estimate how long anything takes.
Signal AI reads that text as a whole and returns three tiers. Urgent is what genuinely cannot wait. Important is what deserves today. Later is everything real but not now — captured so it stops circling, but out of your way.
That is the entire product. There is no project tree to design and no weekly review to maintain.
What Lumin is not
It is not a calendar or a scheduler. It will not place work into time slots or defend focus blocks — tools like Motion and Reclaim.ai do that job.
It is not a team project manager. There are no assignees, dependencies or shared boards.
It is not a note-taking or knowledge system. It does not replace Notion or Obsidian.
It answers one question — what deserves attention first — and deliberately does nothing else.
Who it's built for
People who have abandoned several task apps. The common thread in abandonment is maintenance: tags drift, projects go stale, the weekly review gets skipped, and the system stops being trustworthy. Lumin has nothing to maintain, so there is nothing to fall behind on.
It works hardest on your worst days — when there is too much to hold and no capacity left to sort it.
The reasoning behind the design
Writing things down works for a specific, measurable reason. In Masicampo & Baumeister (2011), unfinished goals produced intrusive thoughts during unrelated reading and degraded performance on an unrelated anagram task. Writing a specific plan eliminated that interference — while the task itself remained undone.
That is cognitive offloading, reviewed in Risko & Gilbert (2016): using an external tool to reduce what your working memory has to hold.
The gap Lumin fills is what happens next. A dump leaves you with an undifferentiated pile, and the pile still needs ranking. Lumin does the ranking.
Who built it
Lumin is built by Sean Looi and Krystle, a two-person team in Malaysia. They built it after repeatedly abandoning task apps that demanded setup work they never sustained. More on the about page.

Frequently asked questions
How is Lumin different from a to-do list?
A to-do list stores tasks and leaves the deciding to you. Lumin does the deciding. You never set a priority flag, because ranking is the product rather than a field you fill in.
Does Lumin work in languages other than English?
Yes. Lumin responds in whatever language you write in.
How long does it take?
A brain dump plus ranking typically takes under two minutes end to end. There is no onboarding or configuration before your first result.
What does Lumin cost?
USD9 a month or USD90 a year. Every account starts with a 7-day unlimited free trial and no credit card is required. See <a href='/pricing'>pricing</a> for what happens after the trial.
